Grey Bruce Public Health (GBPH) is asking for the public's assistance in relation to a dog bite incident in Southampton on September 23, 2023.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. a woman who was riding a bicycle on Spence Street between Grenville Street South and Anglesia Street South was bitten by a large dog which appeared to be a heeler border collie cross.

The dog, along with another, smaller dog was being walked by a woman and a child and they were accompanied by two additional children, one of whom was driving a battery powered ride-on car.

Grey Bruce Public Health staff would like to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies, which will allow the biting victim to avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.
