The 38th annual Port Elgin Pumpkinfest was held September 30 and October 1, 2023 in Port Elgin and outside of a little rain midday on Sunday, it was a gorgeous weekend with fun for the whole family.
This year's winner for the heaviest pumpkin, weighing in at 1596.50 lbs, went to John Butler from St Thomas.
Butler also took the title for the heaviest tomato (5.80 lbs) and the longest sunflower (315 in).
Chatting with Master of Ceremonies Dave Middleton was Saugeen Shores' Aislyn Maxemiuk October 1. 2023 was Maxemiuk's second year growing sunflowers competitively, third year growing overall.
All the way from Toronto, Circus Jonathan wowed the crowd with juggling and balloons.
2023 was Ian and Gisele Karvonen's first year attending Port Elgin Pumpkinfest with their 1935 Dodge pick up.
A little rain didn't deter Al Edwards and his 1984 GMC pickup. Edwards is from Ripley and 2023 was his third year at Pumpkinfest.
