Relaxation, good food and family entertainment are just some of what will be found at Coulter Parkette in downtown Port Elgin on Saturday, July 22 from 12pm to 4pm, the location of the second annual De-Stress and Donate community event.

The fundraiser will have booths and vendors made up of local businesses, set up in market style fashion, with proceeds going to the Port Elgin Rotary Club.

“Every year we plan to donate to something that will benefit our community,” said event organizer, Jenn Lamont. “It's not necessarily about charity, it’s just bettering our community that we live in because our community is pretty awesome.”

Proceeds from last year’s event, a total $600 raised, went to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation and this year Lamont said she decided on the Rotary Club. “They give so much to our community, so they'll give where needed,” she added. “I just thought Rotary was perfect.”

Lamont explained that this year the new location allowed the event to be bigger and include more businesses. “There's a whole bunch of different businesses going down and they're all providing a service by donation, so it won’t cost anything,” she explained. “So if you want a service, you give a donation and you get that service, and at the end of the day all proceeds from each booth that had donations will be collected together and will all go to the Rotary.”

For businesses that are selling products rather than offering a service, Lamont said they will be charged a fee for being there, which again will go to the Rotary Club.

Along with food, live entertainment, raffle ticket draws, games and activities for the whole family, there will be a variety of local businesses offering such services as manicures, facials, yoga and massages.

Small Wonders- Outdoor games, Jenga and Yahtzee, for children and meditation benches for parents

Lamont said that space is still available and for any businesses wishing to participate they can contact her at 519-386-8184.

“We want to make it a community event and the more people we have down there the more money we can raise,” said Lamont. “It's really for any business that can provide something to help to live a stress free happy life.”
