SS Police7 fullThere were a total of 111 incidents between March 13 and March 19.

March 18

Police attended a family dispute at a residence in Southampton. A male, age 40 was arrested and charged with assault.

March 17

Police investigated a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highway 21 in the Southampton area. The vehicle was located and there were no signs of impairment.

At 2:15 p.m. police received a traffic complaint forwarded from the OPP. A vehicle, northbound on Highway 21 from Tiverton, was stopped and the driver was identified and given a warning for aggressive driving.

R.I.D.E. checks were conducted between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. There were no infractions.

Police dealt with two calls approximately an hour apart during the evening in regards to excessive alcohol consumption. Motorists reported a male passed out on Turner Street in Southampton. When they tried to assist the male he became combative. Police located the male back in his residence.

A second call was received about an intoxicated male who had fallen and injured himself. The initial information was for an address in Port Elgin, however police eventually determined the incident had occurred in Southampton and located the male at hospital suffering from a gash to the back of his head.

March 16

At 3 p.m. police attended a three vehicle collision on Goderich Street at Ivings Drive. Two vehicles were stopped for a traffic light when a third vehicle rear ended the second vehicle which pushed that vehicle into the first vehicle. Two vehicles had to be towed. There were no injuries. A driver was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

At 7:15 p.m. police attended a residence in Southampton to remove an unwanted person. The person was intoxicated and was lodged in police cells until sober.

At 8 p.m. police investigated a report of a possible impaired driver. The driver was located and the complaint was determined to be unfounded.

March 15

An officer on patrol observed an elderly male wandering in the area of Subway in Southampton. The male was spoken to and found to be confused as to his whereabouts. He was returned to his residence.

March 14

A vehicle on Catherine Street was entered overnight and some loose change was stolen. Other items in the vehicle were disturbed but not taken.

Police received a report of damage to property on the boardwalk at the Port Elgin beach where “BKB” had been painted on the bench in green paint.

Police attended to a vehicle in the ditch on Bruce Road 17. The driver lost control on ice and the vehicle entered the ditch. There were no injuries.

Police attended a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 21 between Port Elgin and Southampton. The driver lost control on ice and the vehicle entered the ditch. The vehicle was heavily damaged and ended up partially submerged in water. Fortunately the driver was able to free himself from the vehicle and only suffered minor injuries.

March 13

In the evening R.I.D.E. checks were conducted. There were no alcohol violations.
