saugeen shores logo 560The Town of Saugeen Shores will be hosting a public meeting regarding the Island Street storm sewer outlet improvement project. In a March 22 media release, the public is encouraged to attend the Southampton Town Hall on Tuesday, March 28 at 7 p.m. to learn more, provide comment and discuss project next steps.

For those who are unable to attend the event, request for information or feedback can be submitted to Adam Stanley, Manager of Engineering with the Town of Saugeen Shores at 519-832-2008 extension 123 or by email stanleya@saugeenshroes.ca.

“The municipality is committed to hearing from the public as we move forward with the study and project planning for the Island Street storm sewer project,” said Adam Stanley, Manager of Engineering with the Town of Saugeen Shores.

“The improvements will mitigate storm water impacts, while addresses ecological, public health and aesthetic concern. We’re pleased to have worked in partnership with Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority as well as the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation in our project planning,” he added.

The Island Street storm sewer outlet bisects the Southampton Chantry Dunes-beach Ecological System, located along the eastern shore of Lake Huron in the County of Bruce. The specific location is west of Harmer Street between the projected road allowances of Bay Street and Beach Street in Town of Saugeen Shores.
