Sandcastle Theatre will be presenting the hilarious parody, Potter - the Panto at Saugeen Shores District Secondary School in Port Elgin on December 8 and 9.
After last December’s successful production of Peter Pan - the Panto, which involved over 150 children, teens and adults from across Grey, Bruce and Simcoe counties, Sandcastle Theatre is very excited to be presenting Potter - the Panto this Christmas season.
In addition to Port Elgin, the musical parody will also have showings in Owen Sound, and Collingwood with each community featuring a different, local cast. Each community promises laughter and fun for all ages.
Pantos, or Pantomimes, are popular in England, are generally performed between Christmas and New Year’s and have gained popularity in other countries, including Canada, over the last several years.
Potter - the Panto is written and directed by Stephanie Fowler with Jackie Rose Brown as the musical director and features 40 actors from age 8 to adult. Pantos are loosely based on famous stories, weaving in current events and local references. Although Potter - the Panto does not tell the story of the famous wizard of the same name and does not include the characters from that story, it will tell tales of magic with singing and dancing, physical comedy and jokes for all ages, plus opportunities for audience participation. Audience members will cheer for the hero and boo the villain and even get up on stage as magical helpers.
Join Sandcastle Theatre’s for their production of Potter - the Panto (a parody) in Port Elgin at Saugeen District Secondary School December 8 and 9. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $15 for children and are available from Rabbit Dash and Blackboard Sound or can be purchased online at sandcastletheatre.com/buy-tickets.
