Chantry Breezes Bed and Breakfast in Southampton was the setting for The Shoreline Artists annual Art on the Fence show on Saturday, August 1st. The show was held between 9am and 3pm and featured 20 different artists' work from paintings to jewellery to woodwork.

Shoreline Artists President, Lorraine Boucher, who has her own studio where she teaches acrylic and paverpol sculpture, explained that they put on several shows each year starting with their Studio Tour in July. To become a member, artists must be permanent or summer residents of Grey-Bruce. “The studio tour is our first event of the season, then Art on the Fence and then we go to Sauble and every two years we do a juried show at the museum,” she said. “This area has a lot of very talented people.”

Shoreline Artists Treasurer, Ilene Scott, who was at the show with some of her artwork, gave praise to Chantry Breezes owner Jenny Amy for offering the space to them every year for the show. “She just opens up her property to us every year so it's wonderful. I think we're getting close to ten years here now. The setting is beautiful.”

Art on the Fence Event Coordinator, Jo-Ann Sturgeon of Ashgrove Art in Southampton said, “It's called 'Art on the Fence' as it originated with just art at the front of the fence here about ten years ago and now it has expanded.”

The Shoreline Artists next event is at Sauble Beach on August 14th and 15th. They then have a show of their works, called Elements Of The Forest, at the Bruce County Museum in Southampton from September 17th to October 31st with an opening reception on September 17th between 7pm and 9pm.
