The Winterhawks couldn't find a solution to their early season goal-scoring woes on Saturday night.
A solid effort by goaltender Josh Sturrock went for naught as the Winterhawks fell 4-2 in Durham.
The Winterhawks were able to open the scoring in the 1st period with a goal by Trent Hawke, but the Thundercats stormed back with two of their own by the end of the period.
Durham would break things open with two quick goals in the 2nd to make it 4-1.
Head Coach Peter Roedger called a timeout to regroup, which was followed by a goal by Brent MacDermid, assisted by Blake Underwood to cut the Durham lead to 4-2.
The Winterhawks were unable to muster any offense in the 3rd period, falling 4-2.
Sturrock made 39 saves in the defeat.
The loss drops the Winterhawks to 1-4-0 on the season.
The Winterhawks will be back on the road for a pair of games next weekend, hitting the ice Friday November 6 in Shallow Lake for an 8:30 p.m start. They will travel to Lucknow to face the Lancers on Saturday November 7 for a 7:30 p.m puck drop.
