The Stratford Nationals Midget Tier 1 team, led by Port Elgin’s Jack Middleton, won the championship at the annual Stratford Midget tournament June 8, 9 and 10.
In a June 10 submission, Middleton started the tournament as the starting pitcher against Cambridge Friday night. He threw five innings allowing just two earned runs with seven strikeouts, and he drove in a run in a 4-2 win to start the tournament.
The team went through the weekend undefeated with a record of 5-0.
Middleton started the championship game Sunday afternoon against Brantford going four complete with five strikeouts while driving in a run in a 6-3 win to claim the title.
