For the month of June, teens can take a whack at the honing their pickleball skills, as Lakeshore Recreation will be hosting pickleball clinics on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Pickleball is a rising sport in Saugeen Shores and can be played year round. The Saugeen Shores Pickleball Club runs league play during the winter months at Port Elgin United Church and at Lakeshore Recreation which has converted its tarmac and a few tennis courts to fit eight pickleball courts.

Led by pickleballer John Forsyth, members of the Saugeen Shores Pickleball Club will be volunteering their time to teach the sport, which is similar to tennis and played on a smaller court.

The cost of the clinic is $10 which will go to cover the cost of equipment. Pre-registration is required so the appropriate number of pickleball volunteers can be on-hand. Participants can register at Lakeshore Recreation, 1177 Goderich St. in Port Elgin.

Clinic times are Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m.
