The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks are announcing significant departures from their hockey operations. In a Winterhawks media release, the team has been informed that General Manager Don Matheson, Head Coach Jim Grieve, assistant coaches Barry Hall and Mark Kazarian, as well as Goaltending Coach Dave Rosner and Trainer Scott McMeekin will not be returning to their respective positions for the 2018/19 season.
“Every one of those gentlemen are owed a great deal of gratitude for dedicating themselves to their positions over the years,” said President Gord Lamont. “They gave us everything they had to make sure our players were at their very best.”
Recruitment efforts to fill the vacancies have been underway over the past several months, with successful results.
“Fortunately, we have known for some time that we would have a number of positions to fill by the 2018/19 season,” said Lamont. “This provided us the opportunity to get a head start on recruiting.”
An announcement regarding the Winterhawks new head coach and staff is expected in the coming weeks.
