Five Bruce Power employees teamed up to win a silver medal in the Industrial category of the FireFit Canadian Nationals Finals in Spruce Meadows, Alberta.

Over 170 people from all across Canada took part in the event, which recreates real-life scenarios faced by firefighters each day across the country. The members of Bruce Power’s team, who work within our Emergency and Protective Services department, competed in the individual and team relay events.

“We were very proud to see our FireFit team bring home a silver medal from the national championship,” said Brian Hilbers, Bruce Power’s Chief Legal Officer and Vice President, Emergency Management. “The hard work they put in to train for these rigourous challenges is a testament to their professionalism and dedication to their craft.

“Every member of our Emergency and Protective Services team undergoes numerous hours of training each year to ensure they are well prepared for anything that may arise on our 2,300-acre site, whether the nature of the issue is related to medical, fire or security.”

Bruce Power’s emergency services organization has close to 400 members, which includes fire and security personnel. They provide first response capabilities to the 4,000 employees, as well as hundreds of contractors.
