The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks weren't able to follow up on a strong Game 1 effort against the Durham Thundercats.
The Winterhawks went into Durham on Saturday night and came out on the wrong end of a 4-0 decision.
Bill Terpstra opened the scoring for Durham at 13:15 of the 1st period, putting a backhander past Winterhawks netminder Blake Sinclair.
The Winterhawks tried to mount some offence throughout the period, but Gatlin Burt stood tall in the Durham net.
The Winterhawks had several good chances to score in the 2nd period, but couldn't find the back of the net, while Sinclair made big saves at the other end. The close-checking affair remained 1-0 heading to the final frame.
The game remained close for the first half of the 3rd period, but Durham pulled away in the final stages of the game.
Randy Cox scored off a 2-on-1 at 9:44, followed by Braedon Rigney batting one in at 11:41, then Ryan Zeggil finished off the scoring at 16:59 to give Durham the 4-0 win.
The best-of-7 series is now tied 1-1 and will return to Durham for Game 3 on Friday February 12th at 8:30 p.m., followed by Game 4 at The Plex on Saturday February 13th at 7:30 p.m.
