It was a year ago that shock ran through the Owen Sound community and beyond following the asssault and subsequent death of an Owen Sound business owner and today the OPP have said that arrests have been made.
44 Year old Sharif Rahman was assaulted outside of his restaurant, The Curry House, in downtown Owen Sound a year ago, on August 17, 2023, and was rushed to hospital. A week after the assault Rahman succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on August 24, 2023.
Arrests were made on July 30, 2024, said an August 15 media release from the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
"Due to the complexity of this ongoing investigation and to protect its integrity and potential court proceedings, the OPP and OSPS are unable to comment further at this time," read the release. "Updates will be provided when they become available," the release added.
The Owen Sound Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police thanked the Owen Sound community for their support and tips provided.
