Ceasefire Grey Bruce is once again hosting events to help raise awareness about what's happening in Palestine. Events are set for Port Elgin and Owen Sound.

"Our goal is to provide a history on Palestine from the past 100 years while placing this history in the context of Indigenous Land Rights in Canada, and specifically Saugeen Shores," said Jessica Daneluk, spokesperson for Ceasefire Grey Bruce in an email to Saugeen Shores Hub.

The child-friendly event is open to the public and free to attend and aims to help provide understanding and education with a short presentation and an open discussion with a local Gazan.

The event will also feature a documentary screening of Tantura, a documentary by award winning Film Director Alon Schwarz about the 1948 massacre of Palestinian civilians in the village of Tantura.

The Port Elgin event is set for August 7 from 6pm to 8pm at Lakeshore Recreation Centre, 1177 Goderich Street and in Owen Sound on September 4 from 6pm to 8pm at the Owen Sound Library, 824 1st Avenue West.

"While this conflict can feel far away and complicated, by beginning to look at our own history of Indigenous Land Rights, we can begin to understand this occupation as well as our own communities right here better," said Daneluk.
