Families in Bruce County now have expanded child care options thanks to the new licensed child care and learning environment at Little Cubs Learning Centre in Port Elgin.
In an April 3 media release from Bruce County, owners Karishma and Rohan Kittur were joined by representatives from the county and Saugeen Shores for a grand opening April 2 which included a ribbon cutting ceremony as well as a tour of the new facility.
The Little Cubs Learning Centre is located at 281 Goderich Street in Port Elgin and adds 106 licensed toddler, preschool, junior kindergarten and senior kindergarten child care spaces.
“This new Child Care program expands licensed child care options for families in Saugeen Shores and provides early years programs and services that help build a foundation for all future learning, behaviour, and health,” said Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “Expanded access to licensed, quality child care services will also positively impact our local economy, encourage workforce participation, and reduce poverty for low-income families. We are excited to have this new licensed child care facility to support the young families of our growing community.”
“Bruce County, as a Service System Manager, takes pride in ensuring that the Licensed Child Care and Early Years System is collaborative, responsive, and accountable in meeting the current and long term needs of families across the county,” said Warden Chris Peabody. “We are excited to work with child care providers like Little Cubs Learning Centre to support families in receiving high quality, affordable, inclusive, and accessible licensed child care options.”
