The Province of Ontario has moved to a modified Step Two of its Roadmap to Reopen plan as a result of a rapid rise in COVID-19 cases and the highly contagious Omicron variant. The new restrictions take effect today, January 5.
In a January 4 media release from the Town of Saugeen Shores, the municipal office will remain open however appointments are preferred in order to limit the number of individuals in the office and reduce wait times. "Please wear a mask and follow all public health guidelines when visiting the municipal office," read the release, adding that many Town services are available by telephone at 519-832-2008 or online at saugeenshores.ca.
All indoor sports and recreational facilities as well as indoor meeting and event spaces with be closed until at least January 26. All municipal registered and drop-in programs are cancelled or paused at this time. Those registered will be contacted with next steps or refund/credit options.
"As we implement these new provincial restrictions, I know how challenging and difficult they are for our businesses and families," said Mayor Luke Charbonneau, adding that he knows residents will be there to support each other and local businesses.
