Rotary District 6330 Governor David J Elliott announced Monday the chartering of a new Rotary Club to serve Saugeen Shores.

"The community of Saugeen Shores continues to grow and thrive with ever changing needs. Rotary Clubs provide a place for those with a passion for community service to connect, share ideas and discover how to improve the lives of others," said Elliott in a recent media release.

The newly formed Rotary Club of Saugeen Shores will compliment the already established Rotary Club of Southampton and Rotary Club of Port Elgin.

“The new Rotary Club of Saugeen Shores will provide a morning meeting option," Elliott added, "with both in person and virtual options for members, like Port Elgin and Southampton Rotary Clubs.”

Elliott said stated that it is especially heartening to see the formation of a new club during a time when church and service organizations in general are seeing diminishing numbers. “Add to that the fact that we are dealing with a pandemic, this makes it even more meaningful," said Elliott, who is Governor of a district that is made up of 65 clubs in Southern Ontario as well as several counties in Michigan and the United States.
