Wednesdays have been quieter this summer at Coulter Parkette than in years past as the Board of Management of the Port Elgin BIA announced Thursday that they had made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the Port Elgin Farmer’s Market 2020 season.

Originally, the board had only postponed the market due to COVID-19 but it has since been determined that the market "could not operate without risking the health and safety of vendors and patrons," read a recent media release.

“This was a tough decision, but we looked at Coulter Parkette and could not find a way to operate the market in a manner that would satisfy the new reality of social distancing and sanitization,” said BIA Chair Addison Ziegler.

The Board said it will examine the future of the market as it looks ahead to 2021.

“We wish our vendors nothing but success and we hope to see them back in Coulter Parkette in 2021,” said Ziegler.
