Saugeen Shores YMCA

Editor's Note: In a January 27 notice from the Town of Saugeen Shores, due to inclement weather, the YMCA Community Day originally scheduled for January 27 has been moved to Sunday, February 10. The information has been changed below to reflect the new date.

The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce has invited Saugeen Shores residents to come explore and enjoy the facility, located at 700 10th Street East in Owen Sound, on Sunday, February 10. A variety of free activities are planned for all ages from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. including facility tours, swims, family fun gym and access to the fitness centre and walking track.

A free shuttle bus is available for residents with pickup locations planned at the Centennial Pool in Port Elgin and the Coliseum in Southampton. Residents are asked to sign up for the shuttle in advance either online or at the Centennial Pool. The bus is scheduled to depart Saugeen Shores at 10:30 a.m. and leave the YMCA at 1:30 p.m.

“This is an excellent opportunity for Saugeen Shores residents to experience what activities and amenities a YMCA facility has to offer,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau in a January 15 media release. “The YMCA has generously opened its doors for us and I encourage our community to make the trip to experience the YMCA first-hand.”

The full schedule of free activities and shuttle bus signup is available at saugeenshores.ca/ymcacommunityday. Families planning to use the aquatic facilities are encouraged to review the YMCA Pool Admission Policy prior to arrival.

In the event of poor weather, the community day will be rescheduled.
