Grade 8 students and parents from École Port Elgin Saugeen Central School (ÉPESCS) held a Bottle Drive on Saturday, February 10 to raise funds for a Grade 8 graduation trip to Niagara Falls scheduled for June, 2018.

Accompanied by parent volunteers, students collected empties by going door to door in Port Elgin as well as in the parking lot at ÉPESCS from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and came away with $1,333.40 for their efforts.

The kids have more fundraising events planned such as a Valentine’s Day dance and a Valentine’s Day cupcake sale, both happening at the school, said parent volunteer Denise Sayers.

“We’ve [also] got some Family Fun Nights every Friday night in April at the school,” she said, including dodgeball and an escape room type event.

“We’ve got a paint night being held at Duffy's in Southampton on March 25,” Sayers added.
