Town staffers aim to make municipal affairs comprehensible, exciting and engaging with their new podcast, the “Shore Report”, co-hosted by Jessica Linthorne, Community Development Officer and Jay Pausner, Development Coordinator for the Town of Saugeen Shores. The online show on soundcloud.com will feature special guests, which so far have included Saugeen Shores Fire Chief Phil Eagleson.
Touted the first municipal podcast in Grey and Bruce counties, Episode 2 focussed on defibrillators, their presence in Saugeen Shores and where you can access a map of the 70 that are available; while the first podcast, also featuring Eagleson, gave details of the Saugeen Shores Strategic Plan and how community members can have their say.
“Jay and I are looking forward to offering a new and direct communication tool to residents and visitors of Saugeen Shores. We’re confident the podcast will shed some light on municipal projects and will encourage public participation,” said Linthorne February 14.
She added that anyone can contact the co-hosts with questions by calling the municipal office at 519-832-2008, by e-mail at podcast@saugeenshores.ca or by leaving a comment on their soundcloud page.
“Our hope is to answer public questions, clear up misconceptions and bring in educated guests to discuss projects.” Linthorne added the pilot project will have two podcasts a month as a tool to connect with residents and visitors “but with a powerful message of engagement”.
