Owner Avani Soni wants customers to have a true shopping experience at her one stop stylish shop. New children’s clothing and accessory store, Bruce Kids Apparel, is now open and ready to serve the community with pint-size, budget friendly clothing from tutus to jackets to sleepers and car seat covers.

For Avani, the dream to be her own boss and her desire to play dress-up with her 2 year old daughter Kesar came together to become the perfect business opportunity in a community she has come to love after moving to Canada six years ago.

“There is a lot of economic growth coming to the community of Bruce County and I would like to be a part of the exciting times through promoting small businesses like Bruce Kids Apparel,” she said.

Since opening her store at the south end of Port Elgin at the end of October, the entrepreneur has received positive feedback. She admits that although opening a business has its challenges, she is happy to set a good example for her daughter and the younger generation growing up in Saugeen Shores. Avani is gearing up to launch a website which will allow customers to purchase clothing online, and added that the in-person shopping experience of trying on clothes, feeling the fabric and seeing the sizes is available at 5101 Highway 21, next to Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb's constituency office.

“I just love to dress up my daughter and have the shopping experience,” she said. "I want other people to feel the same.”

Bruce Kids Apparel features sizes from newborn to age 7 and hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. Avani said she is gearing up for some special gift-sets and sales ahead of the busy Christmas season.
