The Southampton BIA held their Annual General Meeting November 6 at the Walker House, electing a new Board of Management for the 2018-2022 term. The Board will be joined by a Southampton Ward councillor appointed by the municipality after council is sworn in in December.
The new Board includes Bruce Martin of Martin’s Home Hardware, Carolyn Grainger Wilson of McIntee Real Estate, Chris Robinson of Lac Boutique, Dave Rudell of The Southampton Olive Oil Company, Justin Niklaus of Offshore Bakery, and Paul Schendel of 173 High Street.
In a Southampton BIA media release, prior to the election, attendees heard presentations from the BIA’s two working sub-committees, Streetscape and Promotions/Special Events, with a summary of accomplishments over the past four years, as well as an overview of the financials of the organization and words of thanks from Chair Melanie Myers.
As a gesture of thanks and for his 27 years of service to the community, the Southampton BIA presented Saugeen Shores' outgoing Mayor Mike Smith with a framed copy of the winning photo from the BIA's Scenes of Southampton photo contest by photographer John White.
A special thank you to the outgoing Board was also extended; Melanie Myers of First Concrete, Mary Lou Hills of Hills Insurance, Susan Dollar of Dollar Law, Sue Palethorpe of The Southampton Meat Market, Bruce Martin of Martin’s Home Hardware, Don Hart of Foodland, and Don Matheson, Council Representative; for their service and dedication to the beautification and promotion of Southampton over the last four years.
The BIA would also like to thank the Walker House for catering, Hills Insurance for the floral arrangement and Foodland for the cake.
