The Southampton BIA will be holding their 2018 Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, November 6 at 6:30 p.m. at The Walker House followed by a social hour for BIA members attending the meeting.

In an October 25 media release, the agenda for the evening will include a review of Southampton BIA accomplishments since its creation in 2014, the 2018-19 financials, summaries from the Streetscape and Promotions sub committees, special presentations and the new Board of Management elections.

“The first four years of the BIA have been very successful. We have purchased 16 new benches, 12 large planters, 40 hanging banners, 12 blue bike racks, and new lights for the holiday wreaths and Christmas Tree just to name a few," said Melanie Myers, Chair of the Southampton BIA.

"We’ve received three Spruce the Bruce beautifucation grants and have an active Special Events and Promotions Committee that organizes events such as Run to Southampton, Flag Quest, Music on High, Ladies at the Lake, Southampton Sparkles and Festive Fridays," she added.

Myers said the organization has built "tremendous momentum" in the last four years with beautification and promotional endeavours and are now in need of four to six volunteers to sit on the Board for the new term. "Otherwise the BIA is at risk of dissolving," she said.

Any assessed BIA members who wish to volunteer are encouraged to email the BIA prior to the elections on November 6. Southampton BIA members who wish to attend the November 6 event can RSVP to southamptonbia@gmail.com.
