Norm Smits, owner of Norm's Fast Lube and Auto Detailing, held a customer appreciation afternoon of food, drink and entertainment October 22 to celebrate his second year in business.
Smits bought the business at the Tibor's Auto Mall on Highway 21, Port Elgin, formerly Cruisers Fast Lube, two years ago, changed the name and added auto detailing to the services the business provides.
The Queen's Bar & Grill provided the food for the event with a celebratory birthday cake for dessert. Michael Nyman entertained guests with live music from one of the oil change bays where he sat with his guitar.
A customized 1991 Honda Civic, one that races at Sauble Speedway and of which Smits is a major sponsor, along with its driver William Gibbons, sat outside the business generating interest and questions from guests.
Smits said his second year had far exceeded his first and that July was his busiest month ever. “I did 280 [oil changes] in July and I set a record of 21 oil changes in one day,” he said. “I was busy.”
Musician Michael Nyman entertained guests, taking song requests.
A point of interest and topic of conversation was a 1991 Honda Civic turned race car that sat outside the business.
Food, drink and a birthday cake was provided for guests who attended the customer appreciation event.
