A new exhibit is opening this Saturday, April 16, at the Southampton Art School. In Full Colour features original artwork by senior art students at Saugeen District Senior School (SDSS).
The opening is set to take place from 1pm to 3pm and the artists will be in attendance to talk about their work and answer any questions. Each watercolour piece features the Southampton Art School in some way and is accompanied with a statement by the artist.
Getting underway in 1997, the project originally asked for submissions from local artists but in 2010 organizers partnered with SDSS and have been receiving submissions every year since.
Voting will be available can be done in person at the gallery as well as online and the artist selected as People's Choice will win a $100 gift certificate to DeSerres Art Supplies, sponsored by the Shoreline Artists, and will also have their work featured in Art School promotions next year.
Online voting will be held at docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdJ6wZnqlv5ApPPyN2Se1Cd2lYJ9L4gPBLP-8eBfKg0Q-WxvA/viewform.
The People's Choice winner, along with three other entries, will create a set of four gift cards with each student chosen receiving a set of cards.
Proceeds from the sale of the cards will help to raise funds for art kits for youth in the community.
The exhibit will be open from April 12 to 24 and the Southampton Arts Centre would like to thank Hills Insurance and Shoreline Artists.
