Restrictions on social gatherings have caused the cancellation of many local fundraising events and while charities and non profit organizations are looking for ways to make up the shortfall, the need for their services is higher than ever.
Southampton Rotary's third annual East Coast Kitchen Party, in partnership with the Rotary Club of London and supported by Bruce Power, has taken its efforts online where, on Saturday, May 30 at 7pm, the party will go virtual via Zoom and Facebook Live.
The 'Stay at Home' event promises to be entertaining with toe tapping music featuring award winning performers. It is free to attend and donations are being accepted. Several restaurants in Saugeen Shores are tossing East Coast eats onto their menus to add to the festivities.
An online auction will continue until 9pm Saturday.
The evening will also feature 'door' prizes as well as prizes for the Best Dressed and Best Table Setting or Decorated Kitchen. Send your photos to rotary1938@gmail.com and share on social media with the hashtag #RotaryECKP.
"The Club hopes the evening will unite people from across Saugeen Shores and beyond with the aim to strengthen community efforts and manage the effect COVID-19 has had on our local Hospital Foundation and The Chapman House Hospice," said Past President Sylvia Sheard in a media release. "Rotary is asking everyone, if they are able, to please make a donation to help bridge the funding gap these organizations and our other Rotary causes are experiencing," she added.
