St. John's Anglican Church in Port Elgin stepped back in time on Saturday as they hosted a Victorian Christmas Tea in aid of the Saugeen Shores Refugee Fund.
Several ladies from St. John's dressed as Victorian Maids and served tea and a lunch, consisting of sandwiches, sausage roll, quiche and a scone with jam and cream, to guests followed by some tasty desserts.
Everything served was homemade with the teapots, cups and saucers having been borrowed from members of St. John's.
“We often have teas and we donate the money wherever it's needed around the community,” said organizer Linda Walton, adding that this was their third one of the year with a Victorian theme. “We thought the Saugeen Shores Refugee Fund would be a good place for the money to go this time.”
The event raised $740 and the Anglican Church Women also sent a separate cheque to the Saugeen Shores Refugee Fun for another $500 as part of their yearly donations to different charities.
