As one of the first snow falls of the season descended on downtown Port Elgin, there was a festive feel to the events at Coulter Parkette Saturday, November 21. Fun and entertainment, organized by the Port Elgin BIA, was experienced by young and old alike.

A Winter Classic Road Hockey tournament saw the Barbarians face off against The Fill-Ins, a team made up of whoever wanted to play, with Leo Campbell refereeing. Although it was a close game throughout the Barbarians won with a final score of 18-15.

While the hockey was being played, children could get their faces painted by The Main Event, and had a chance to cuddle with rabbits and pet lambs at a children's petting zoo, sponsored by Dejong Acres.

The Liv-A-Little Foundation was offering hot chocolate, donated by South Stables Coffee House in Southampton, and all the ingredients to make some tasty s'mores, including marshmallow sticks, over a wood fire, with over $500 in proceeds going to the Salvation Army food bank. Chad Little from Liv-A-Little, who also took part in the tournament, said, "It’s our way to give back to the community that helps us out so much with our cause.”
