Get ready for a romantic, historical dream play by Calgary’s Stephen Massicotte, live at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton this November.
Set during the First World War, “Mary’s Wedding” tells the story of Mary and Charlie, two young lovers in rural Canada and is presented by Vector Theatre, directed by Carol LeNestour, and features Alanna Boucher and Steven Travale.
The story takes place in a dream experienced by Mary the night before her wedding. It’s a recurring dream in which Mary relives meeting her beloved Charlie, falling in love, receiving his letters from the trenches of World War I and imagining his life there as he experiences the horrors of battle. From the blossoming of their love on the vast prairies to the bloody battlefields of France’s Moreuil Wood, Mary’s Wedding captures a time of innocence and courage with rare sensitivity and beauty.
Vector Theatre, based in Kincardine, explores the world through intimate theatrical experiences. Carol LeNestour, the artistic director, has won numerous awards for her direction and design work.
Limited, general seating tickets are available in advance or at the door. Members, veterans and students pay $12 plus HST and other members of the public pay $18 plus HST.
The November 6 performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. while the November 7 matinee performance is at 2 p.m.
