Nearly 200 skaters were on point as Saugeen Shores hosted Ice Dreams, a Skate Ontario sanctioned competition, for the first time since 2015. Multiple forms of skating from Freestyle to Interpretive to Showcase were executed by 190 skaters in front of crowds and judges during the two-day competition January 20 and 21.
The event included a CanSkate circuit course on the second day of competition, which Saugee Shores Skating Club Coach Janet Dawson said gives younger skaters the chance to perform in front of crowds. “Their first taste of competition,” said Dawson.
Skaters from 17 skating clubs from as far north as Lion’s Head and as far east as Wasaga Beach joined the 30 skaters from Saugeen Shores.
