The sixth annual Port Elgin Ladies Fastball Tournament took over Lakeview and Cameron Park ball diamonds and showcased competitive women’s fastball June 2 to 4. The defending champions, London Lightning, held onto their title for another year, defending the Chepstow Diamonds Alumni team by a score of 10-9 in extra innings.
Milverton edged out the Owen Sound Selects for Bronze while the host team, the Port Elgin Devils, secured a fifth place finish with a 1-1-2 record over the weekend.
Port Elgin faced the Chepstow Diamonds Alumni on Friday night losing 8-4. They then took on Milverton on Saturday morning, losing 14-5 with Saturday evening seeing the Port Elgin Devils versus the Palmerston Marlins, which ended in a tie (after a three run seventh inning for the home team). Port Elgin’s win came Sunday morning when they faced off against the Keady Snatchers with a final score of 6-2.
The seventh annual tournament is set to take place June 1 through 3, 2018.
