The Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club (SSLC) and Owen Sound YMCA will be co-hosting the 2016 Ontario Junior Lifeguard Games on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19 in the pool category at the YMCA in Owen Sound.

Dubbed the “biggest Provincials ever” with 245 athletes, the weekend Games will host 16 clubs from across Ontario.

On the last practise before Provincials, the SSLC Nippers, aged 7-8, and the Surfers, ages 9-12, performed racing medleys of 50 metres, rope throws, object carries and more, to prepare them for the weekend.

Last year they placed second overall, with the club from Guelph taking top spot.

Events that will take place in this under 17 competition are: Obstacle Swims and Relays, Throwing Accuracy, Object Carry, Lifesaving Medleys, Tow with Fins, and Lifesaving Medley Races.

The event runs from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on June 18 and from 8 a.m. until 2p.m. on June 19.
