Samara Quanz and Sabra Cannon of Port Elgin travelled to Belleville this past weekend to compete in the Ontario Women’s Artistic Championships as representatives of the Swing, Spring and Flip Club.
Quanz has been working hard all year and her efforts paid off. She competed in the Level 3 – Age 13 category and her Vault, which scored 9.4 and was clean and tight with good rebound, earned her bronze. She also performed well on Balance Beam and Floor, scoring 9.05 and 9.15 respectively, for 15th place on each event. Her Uneven Bar routine scored 8.075 to put her in 28th place.
Quanz’s all-around total of 35.675 put her in 20th place in Ontario overall.
Cannon also performed well. She competed in the Level 5 – Age 10 category and impressed everyone with her tight, clean routines. She scored 9.00 on Uneven Bars to place 12th in the province. She also did well on Floor, scoring 8.75 for 23rd and her Balance Beam routine scored 8.45 to take 27th. Her Vault routine scored her 8.7 to for 24th place.
Cannon’s all-around total of 34.9 put her in 32nd place overall.
