And that’s a wrap on the 29th annual Saugeen Shores Senior Games. The popular event featured over 100 participants who took part in sports from Pickleball to Swing Bowling and games such as Bid Euchre, Cribbage and Snooker Pool.

Over the past two-weeks, 11 activities went on in locations all over Saugeen Shores from The Chantry Centre in Southampton to the Port Elgin Legion Branch 340, Faith Lutheran Church, Faith Maple Hall, Lakeshore Recreation and Elgin Lodge, who also donated a cake for the awards banquet held at the Port Elgin Legion Branch 340, May 20.

During the banquet Laura McKenna, Town of Saugeen Shores Marketing and Programs Coordinator, thanked all who competed in the 29th Senior Games.

“It’s really great to see seniors being involved in the community and staying active, and we have a lot of seniors attending the games. We’ve had a great turnout this year, especially Duplicate Bridge. It was a record year. Pickleball, Euchre and Crib all had a ton of registration,” McKenna said before announcing the top three participants from each of the 11 categories.

Winners are invited to participate in the Grey Bruce District Games, May 30 to June 15. Locally Swing Bowling and Duplicate Bridge will be played at Faith Lutheran Church on May 30 and the Plex on June 10.
