hockeyday fullOrganizers of the International Girls Silver Stick, Caitlyn Cobean Memorial Tournament, February 5 to 7, have confirmed that three time Olympic Gold Medalist Jennifer Botterill will be joining them at their weekend tournament with segments televised by Sportsnet on February 6. With the Silver Stick Tournament, Saugeen Shores will be the host to six divisions of Midget C, Bantam B, Bantam C, Pee Wee C, Atom C and Novice C girls for the division finals throughout the weekend, bringing approximately 2,000 people to our community.

As a lead up to Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada the Town of Saugeen Shores, Community Services Department and the Saugeen Shores PLAY Committee are hosting a Jersey Day Competition for all youth and elementary school classes in Saugeen Shores.

We are inviting all Saugeen Shores youth to wear their favourite sports team jersey on Friday, February 5 and have a parent or teacher post a picture of them or their school class wearing their jerseys to the Town of Saugeen Shores, Community Services Facebook page to be entered for a chance to win a great prize pack from the Town of Saugeen Shores and the Saugeen Shores PLAY Committee.

One prize will be drawn from all entered class submissions and one draw will be held from all individual youth posting their Jersey pics. The Individual Prize will include a 10 pack youth swim card for Centennial Pool and a Hockey PLAY Pack. The Class Prize will include a swim party at Centennial Pool and a Hockey PLAY Prize package for the whole class.

Prizes will awarded by random draw from submissions on Monday, February 8 and the winners will be announced on Facebook as well as notified by phone.
