On behalf of the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce and our Executive team, we are writing to share the Chamber’s concern and effort surrounding an issue that remains critical to our town and business community.

Nuclear energy is the economic engine for Bruce County, facilitating thousands of jobs and generating millions of dollars of commercial activity throughout the region. This is particularly true within Saugeen Shores, where multiple nuclear suppliers play a tremendous role within the business ecosystem, contributing across key industry sectors such as tourism, retail, healthcare and nonprofit.

Indeed, nearly every one of the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce's 400 businesses derive economic benefits from nuclear energy, in one way or another. The Chamber recognizes these current economic benefits, but we also envision the opportunities that will unfold from the Nuclear Innovation Institute and predict a long lasting positive economic impact for the entire business community.

Chamber members are innovators, entrepreneurs, nuclear suppliers, community builders and investors working across sectors from farming to tourism and everything in between.

Chamber member businesses work across sectors to create a better community and we help accelerate their success and amplify their impact through the power of networking, advocacy, community bridging and collaboration. Together with our members, allies and supporters, we're building a movement for better business and prosperity for Saugeen Shores. We extend a welcoming hand to the Nuclear Innovation Institute in joining us in this mission.

Therefore, the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce expresses its strong support for the Nuclear Innovation Institute and wish to have it located within Saugeen Shores.

Sincerely,

Kimberley Inniss-Petersen
