The 5th Annual Marine Heritage Festival kicked off its weekend of festivities with a launch party at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton on Friday evening, July 24th.

There was lots on offer for visitors including free admission to the museum. Refreshments were on hand, the Bobby Dean Trio entertained people on the patio and the Southampton Rotary Club hosted a barbecue out front. Inside Dr. Science kept children entertained with some interesting science and experiments related to boat building.

The museum's Special Events Coordinator, Shannon Paiva said that they tried to change things up this year. “Last year we didn't have stuff outside. We've really tried to make it more family friendly.” She added that attendance was up over last year. “It's fantastic," said Paiva.
