CFUW Southport has announced a change in venue for their December 6 vigil.

The vigil marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and commemorate the 35th anniversary of what is known as the Montreal Massacre, where 14 women were gunned down at École Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989 and honour all victims of gender-based violence.

Traditionally the vigil has been held at Coulter Parkette in Port Elgin but this year will be held in the Rotary Hall at the Plex, 600 Tomlinson Drive, Port Elgin.

The event is set to get underway at 12 noon.
