Bruce County Public Library (BCPL) announced Thursday that its Paisley Branch is relocating to a location within the Paisley Community Centre, calling it "bright and fully accessible."

Officials said that the new location allows for an "enhanced library experience" including a designated children's area and an expanded offering of books.

The library will be closed at their current location beginning on Sunday, June 30 with a grand opening at their new location, 391 Queen Street West, planned for Friday, July 12 from 9:30am to 2pm.

To help prepare for the transition, BCPL conducted a community survey, the feedback from which helped guide the new hours of operation and priorities for the Paisley branch. "BCPL is grateful for the community input that helped shape the new and improved branch environment," read a June 27 media release.

The new Branch will be located on the second floor and with funding from the Municipality of Arran Elderslie BCPL was able to install an elevator, making the new space fully accessible.

"Total municipal funding for renovations for the library, a multi-use space on the second floor, and the elevator was $585,000, including provincial funding support of $218,000," read the release.

“The Library Board is thrilled to have a newly renovated, fully accessible space to better serve the Paisley community," said Board Chair Mark Goetz. "Deep appreciation goes out to municipal staff who aided throughout the project. We invite everyone to visit and experience the revitalized location," Goetz said.
