Mark your calendars for the 2024 Rotary Huron Shore Run (RHSR) happening on June 1.

Planning has been underway for months "to make this year's event a day to remember," read a recent media release from organizers.

The annual event aims to promote active living while raising funds for community initiatives.

Participants will meet at the starting line on High Street in Southampton with the route taking them along the Lake Huron shoreline south toward Port Elgin.

The primary fundraiser will once again be the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation with 2024 proceeds going to support Grey Bruce Health Services' new Wellness and Treatment Centre build in Owen Sound, dedicated to supporting individuals with addictions and mental health needs.

Remaining proceeds will support the Saugeen Track and Field Club, the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club, Breakers Swim Team and RHSR supported causes at the Rotary clubs of Saugeen Shores, Port Elgin and Southampton.

Participants can choose a 5km, 10km or half marathon distance, or a 3km or 800m Fun Run for youth. To register for a run, join a team, or sponsor a participant, visit rotaryrun.net.

Those wishing to volunteer can visit raceroster.com/events/2024/77523/rotary-huron-shore-run-2024/volunteer for information or to register.

Organizers credited "our awesome community" for being able to continue the Rotary Huron Shore Run for over 35 years. "The endless support of all our sponsors, runners, donors, pledges, and volunteers for our event is what makes it great," the release said, giving a huge thanks to all involved.

"We couldn’t do this without you and cannot wait to see you at the starting line on June 1st," read the release.
