The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) kicked off their 2023 Spring Campaign April 24 and with it plans for a Spring Fling weekend of events happening May 27 and 28.
On Saturday evening, May 27 SMHF will be hosting a casino night with professional tables and dealers, a DJ, dancing, a 50/50 draw and a bottle pull draw featuring nearly 100 bottles, door prizes, grand prizes and appetizers and bar service Three Sheets Brewing and Outlaw Brew Co. and Three Sheets Brewing.
Tickets are already over 75 percent sold.
On Sunday the public is invited to come and witness SMHF's attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest line of cookies. Entry is by donation and the OPG Kids Zone will be on hand with entertainment, face painting, balloon creations, games, crafts and more.
Southampton Foodland was instrumental in getting Voortman Cookies to donate some of the 5,000 cookies that will be used at the record attempt," read a recent media release from SMHF. "Martino Catalano, owner at Southampton Foodland has very generously donated more than half of the cookies on behalf of his store," the release added.
The Spring Fling events are not only to help raise funds for a new infant warmer and CPR compression machine for the Emergency Department at the Southampton Hospital; residents can expect a mailer regarding the needed equipment in the coming weeks; but also "to engage people in the community, especially all the new residents who may not be familiar with the Hospital Foundation," read the release.
"We really just want people to come out and have some fun in their community while getting to know us," said Foundation Director Tracy Murray.
