The 2021 Town of Saugeen Shores Municipal Budget has been approved by Committee of Whole with a blended tax rate increase of 2 percent between the municipality, Bruce County, and the school boards.

In a Town of Saugeen Shores media release, the increase of $80.41 per average household will maintain service levels, while continuing to build capacity for future infrastructure through increased contributions to the Legacy Reserve Fund.

“In this budget, Council has committed to increase funding to complete major projects that will enhance the quality of life of everyone in our community,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau, adding that the budget includes a 3.18 percent reduction to the commercial blended tax rate. "Through this reduction we are able to provide some additional relief to local businesses that are facing challenges due to the pandemic," Charbonneau said.

The final budget approval is expected to take place on March 8, 2021.
