The Grey Bruce Health Unit is working proactively with Glad Tidings School in Tara, Ontario and announced Friday that out of an abundance of caution, the Board of Glad Tidings School has decided to temporarily close the school effective November 27, 2020.

"Glad Tidings school and Public Health have an optimal collaborative relationship that facilitates the appropriate, respectful and safe development and implementation of COVID-19 protocols and procedures," read a November 27 media release, confirming that Public Health has not identified a case of COVID-19 at the school, and there is no evidence of transmission of COVID-19 within the school environment.

"There are no outbreaks; that is, evidence of transmission from person to person, in any schools or childcare centres, in Grey Bruce," read the release.

Public Health will continue to work on a return to school plan for Glad Tidings staff and students ensuring that all safety procedures are in place to protect the health and safety of the school and the community, the release said. "Public Health is thankful for this collaborative relationship, and the proactive efforts within this school and community."

On November 27 10 new cases had been reported in the previous 24 hours in Grey, Bruce, Owen Sound, Kincardine and Southgate each with one apiece, and Grey Highlands, Arran Elderslie and West Grey each had two apiece.

A cumulative total of 318 cases was reported with 49 of those cases currently active and three currently hospitalized.

Of the total active confirmed cases Southgate had the highest number in Grey County with 10 and Arran Elderslie had the highest number in Bruce County, also at 10.

Grey Highlands and Kincardine each had seven cases, Blue Mountain had six, Hanover and Owen Sound were showing three cases, West Grey two and one in North Bruce Peninsula.
