The Town of Saugeen Shores announced Friday that the Chair of the Saugeen Shores Police Service Board has accepted the resignation of the Chief of Police, Mike Bellai, effective immediately.

“Deputy Chief Kevin Zettel has accepted the role of Acting Chief, also effective immediately, as we ensure continuity in policing for Saugeen Shores,” said Dave Myette, Chair of the Saugeen Shores Police Service Board.

The Board is currently reviewing next steps as it looks towards the recruitment process. Mayor Luke Charbonneau confirmed that Saugeen Shores will support the Board "at this time and throughout the recruitment of a new chief".
