The latest partnership between Bruce Power, the Nuclear Innovation Institute and NPX Innovation is a digital fundraising program to help revitalize and rebuild local communities through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The All In Ontario Challenge is accessible through the partnership’s Grey Bruce Huron Strong initiative and encourages businesses, organizations and individuals to donate an item or experience and then challenge others to donate. Each prize will be auctioned off and winners will be announced when the auction is complete.
Half of all funds raised through the Challenge will be shared by the United Way of Bruce Grey and the United Way of Huron Perth. The United Way of Bruce Grey will also be accepting applications from other charitable organizations which will receive the remaining 50 per cent of the proceeds.
These funds will support initiatives in Grey, Bruce and Huron counties that impact relief from poverty, advancement of education and other charitable endeavours which are beneficial to their communities.
“Our front-line leaders are responsible for making the All In Ontario Challenge happen,” said John Peevers, Director, Communications and Media Relations at Bruce Power. “Their passion is making a difference for local businesses and charities.”
Among the initial items put up for auction are an autographed NHL merchandise package donated by forward Robert Thomas of the current Stanley Cup-champion St. Louis Blues, a dinner-and-wine pairing for eight donated by Rosina Restaurant in Port Elgin, a tech enthusiast bundle donated by NPX Innovation, and two packages at Cobble Beach Golf Resort with club professional Warren Thomas that is being donated by Bruce Power.
“As a lifelong volunteer involved with many local organizations, I was concerned about the groups that may not survive the pandemic due to the loss of major fundraising opportunities,” said Tracy Primeau, an Operations Manager at Bruce A and one of the front-line leaders for the All In Ontario Challenge. “This is one way we can support these organizations that are so beneficial to our community and ensure they will still be there for us when the province and country reopen again.”
