saugeen shares

In partnership with Saugeen Shores schools and the Chantry Island Cham-bettes, the Saugeen Shares team, headed by Saugeen District Senior School teacher Dan Weigand, has once again been hard at work, this time with an aim to lessen the impact of COVID-19.

Following a successful inaugural event in 2019, the Saugeen Shares Again campaign is set to take place from May 25 to June 6 and will be in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank and the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation. "This fundraiser has the potential to raise $30,000," read a May 18 submission, adding that the Power Workers' Union has agreed to match every dollar up to $5,000 for the food bank and up to $10,000 for the hospital foundation.

For the food bank, donations bags valued at $25 will be available for purchase at Rowland's Independent in Port Elgin. Donations bags valued at $5 plus a donation bin will be available for customers at Giant Tiger in Port Elgin. A donation bin will be available at Walmart in Port Elgin and gift cards will available to purchase at Southampton Foodland.

You can also donate by credit card by calling 519-376-5699 or mail a cheque payable to "The Salvation Army" to The Salvation Army, PO Box 1780, Port Elgin, Ontario, N0H 2C0. Specify "Port Elgin Food Bank" on memo line.

To support the hospital foundation, donations will be accepted through smhfoundation.ca/saugeensharesagain. The link is live now and tax receipts will be generated automatically.
