Bruce County recognizes that the spring season can involve many traditions and, for some, can include gatherings with family and friends as well as religious celebrations for Easter. In an April 9 Bruce County media release, this year, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, Bruce County urges everyone to stay at home and use technology or letters to connect with others.
The Province of Ontario prohibits any gatherings of more than five people but gatherings of any size outside of your own home are strongly discouraged. "If you were thinking of traveling to or around Bruce County to visit friends, family, or your cottage, please do not,” said Bruce County Warden Mitch Twolan. “Listen to the advice of all levels of government and public health officials: stay home," he said, adding that it's important we do our part to flatten the curve.
The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit suggests the following alternative ways to stay connected to others during these challenging times:
• Call or video chat with family and friends
• Have an online dinner party
• Join a religious community service online or on television
• Write a letter or send a card
All Bruce County residents and visitors are reminded to stay home, except to get necessary supplies, to practice physical distancing, and to practice proper hygiene protocols outlined by the Provincial Medical Officer of Health: ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus.
