The SS Trolley began its summer service June 29 when several riders boarded with day passes at first stop of the season on Ivings Drive in Port Elgin.

The SS Trolley officially launched its summer season June 29 with its first ride taking off at 10 a.m. from Ivings Drive in Port Elgin.

The Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce service connects riders to Port Elgin and Southampton seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (some exceptions listed below) until September 2 and, for the first time this year, riders can gain all day access with hop on/hop off $5 day pass. Children under 5 ride for free.

The SS Trolley features a narrated audio tour, providing riders with area information and the route stops at several attractions including Bruce County Museum, beach access points, walking trails and picnic areas.

Stops include:
Ivings Drive (south Port Elgin)
Bricker Street and Green Street
Harbour Street and Mill Street
Port Elgin Splashpad
Pegasus Trail
Huron Street and South Street
Huron Street and Beach Road
Huron Street and High Street
Bruce County Museum
Port Elgin Tourist Camp

Note: There will be no trolley service on August 18 and the trolley will run with extended hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 29, August 2, August 3, August 30 and August 31.

The SS Trolley's first passengers of the season got on at Ivings Drive in Port Elgin, eager to listen to the new narrated audio tour that gives an overview of the area's history as told by local residents.

As sponors of the Ivings Drive stop, Real Estate Clerk Suzanne Maas and Resident Lawyer Tina Blair of Donnelly Murphy Lawyers were there June 29, handing out cupcakes and goody bags to riders.

The SS Trolley headed down Green Street in Port Elgin June 29 on its maiden voyage of the 2019 summer season.
